Mountain festival “Popova Shapka’ 2015-Bike & Running is a three-day event which will be held for the 6th time starting August 28th till August 30th 2015 on the slopes of Popova Shapka.The aim of the event is recreational and competitive. It is a bike tour in which licensed and unlicensed racers from our country and regional countries such as the Balkans and Europe will take part. Bike races include an XC race (day one) and marathon (day two) as well as mountain running which is an athlete race. This event will occur under the auspices of the USAID, the purpose of which is promotion of small businesses.
The event of this type made its debut in July 2010 with thousands of participants from Bulgaria, Serbia, Kosovo taking to the slopes of Popova Shapka . The following year a bike racer from Belgium who won this marathon two times in a raw took part in this event too. This event is becoming more and more popular as the interest increases every year. That’s the reason why we have introduced a new discipline – mountain running which is an international one.
This year we are also expecting local and foreign racers, competitors, athletes and bikers who will be cheered by hundreds of visitors .For the first time this year, in partnership with Euroins -school for running we have introduced a new discipline- Cross country mountain running which will be scheduled as a regular race in the upcoming years.
The organizer of this event is Probike, a shop which sells bikes and equipment. The sponsors that are worth being mentioned are USAID, JANA, ELEM, KONAK ,Macedonian Bikers’ Association ,Popova Shapka ski resort, EUROINS ,KARAS4TRAINING and many others.
The whole three-day event is extremely beneficial. Its goal is raising people’s awareness of taking care of their own physical and mental health as well as making them aware of how important it is to keep our environment clean. Biking as a hobby is priceless , you can enjoy nature and relax yourself. That’s why you should be part of this festival ,so take advantage of the extended weekend and take your time to have a walk in the countryside and enjoy the wonderful scenery.

Saturday — August 29, 2015
8:00 AM to 9:30 AM – Registration and assignment start numbers for the MTB XC race, which will be scored for the ranked list of CFM ( Cycling Federation of Macedonia) and open race for the foreign cycling racers and awards
10:00 AM to 19:00 PM – Meet up, accommodation , registration of the event and start packages for XC MTB marathon and XC running
12:00 PM -Start of the XC cycle race in different categories for licensed and hobby cycle racers
15:00 PM -Announcement of the winners in their categories
15:30 to 19:00 PM – Tracks available for open training for the mountain runners
21:00 to 24:00 PM – Entertainment with a popular DJ and photos of the XC MTB race from the previous and current year

08:00 to 09:30 AM – XC MTB marathon and XC running registration and assignment of start numbers
10:00 AM – Cycle Marathon race begins from Popova Sapka to Leshnica and back to Popova Sapka
10:30 AM – Mountain running race begins (Question)
15:00 PM – Announcement of the winners in mountain running in respective categories
16:00 PM – Announcement of the winners in Cycling Marathon in respective categories
15:00 to 18:00 PM – dinner for all participants
