Galichica – Forgotten beauty, royal ski destination

An operation that costs a billion denars of enthusiasm…

Oh, it’s been more than four years since we looked at Galichica the way we did, the ideal time to try and make a new promotional reportage for the purpose of presenting and getting to know with the forgotten tourist diamonds.

The first time we wrote about this southern wilderness, accommodated between two lakes, was one of the first ski reportage for this web site. You ski and board uphill and downhill, free and without any limitations, through snow ridden valleys, accompanied by the rich blue color of the lakes and landscapes like of the Scandinavian fjords. A combination of landscapes that little ski regions and tourist centers can boast with, and at the same time an ideal destination for an exclusive alternative tourism. This past period we planned and thought a lot, but this year, although generally warm for the cities, proved to be quite snowy for the mountains. Finally, the weather was in our favor, we caught one favorable weekend in the uncertain and rainy March, and with urgent coordination with our friends and hosts, Stojan Stojanovski (2S Studio), Zoran Dimovski (Z’s Tochak, Samoilova rakija), we agreed that we should document this tour to such extent that it should be worthy of Galichica’s beauty.

The snow border and the complex road conditions, which was still covered with snow and additionally blocked by avalanches from the ravines beneath the Lako Signoj peak, as well as the great drifts, forced us to start climbing from lower position than originally intended. Although, while trying to start from the mountain pass located at the small church we were assisted by the regional direction of Makedonija Pat, to which we publicly express our gratitude for the instant and positive reaction accompanied with joy that someone would shoot Galichica, we started from the Korita location.

Below is a video of Galichica like you have never seen before and first of this kind for the promotion of this region. The couloirs/sections, which until now caused only admiration in tourists, were skied on for the first time. We had fun for more than an hour waiting for the sun to lower down to the right place before setting so that we could shoot the best video until now, do not miss the ending… We could not get Miki and Zlatko to leave this beauty.
