Mt.Korab – April ski patrol on this mountain titan , 14.04.2018 год.

While in this period, almost everywhere in Macedonia the spring is significantly present, at mt Korab she just getting awakened. A huge amounts of snow pack layered nicely from this past winter which snowiness-gave a lot.

An amazing April day the mountain gave to us. The skinning routes for ascending are still deeply covered with snow, so almost everywhere skinning is possible. In the higher areas, as always one should be careful due the speing avalanche risk which is still present at the mountain. An avalanche risk at the time was between 2 and 4 on particular areas.

I chosed Kepi Bard ridge, a steep ridge face for ascend but safe from any avy danger.

The day was amazing spring sunny day, with south winds present -approx 40km’s on the top of the ridge, so it was decicive what is the price of the day- the Kepi Bard ski line. Aprox 5 km line with vertical diff.of 859m, a one of the Korab’s classics to became.

Rhe ski conditions were not ‘the best day in the season’ -a firn wet and heavy sugary snow, but i gave my best, a ski line is a ski line especialy at spring, so ski smile is ski smile :).
